Here in Middle Tennessee, the day that Bonnaroo music festival’s lineup is announced is practically a holiday. The Manchester, TN festival, which this year will be June 9- 12, announced many of the artists this morning. It’s going to be a great time!

I took last weekend off and spent it in Louisville, our unassuming neighbor to the north. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the city. It had been a while since I’d visited. I stayed at the 21c, a gem of a hotel right downtown that features an impressive collection of contemporary art. And bourbons. The people were extraordinarily friendly and the accommodations were appropriately luxe. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed my time away.

In an article released today, Urbanpohile.com asks, “Is Nashville the next boomtown of the New South?” The short answer is yes, counting ambition as a big reason: our multi-lane highways, high rise condo buildings, and 1.2 million square foot convention center as a “why not us?” response to Atlanta and Charlotte. Also, our low costs and taxes compared with other southern cities, and the way we embrace our heritage are among other reasons listed.

It was one of those rare days when my phone did not start ringing and beeping regularly until around 2 PM. Such days of uninterrupted time and space, where nothing can distract me causes me to drill even further down into my thinking and spirit to see what lessons God is teaching me on a personal level.

I don’t usually set my TiVo for this, but the TV was on as I passed by and there was Monique from Precious and some gray-haired man telling the world who the best actors and actresses of last year are. So I stopped and watched.
